Accident towing and recovery

After a crash, we tow damaged vehicles from the scene to a body shop, your home or a storage lot. We sweep up glass and debris from the roadway and give you an itemized receipt for your insurance claim. If anyone is hurt, call 911 first.

In Georgia you must report a crash to police right away if anyone is hurt or damage looks like $500 or more (O.C.G.A. § 40-6-273). If nobody is seriously hurt and the cars can still be driven, Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 40-6-275) requires drivers to move them out of the travel lanes when it is safe, and moving your car does not by itself make you at fault.

Once officers clear the scene, you can usually choose your own towing company. If police have already called a rotation tow from their list, that company takes the car, and you can have it moved to your shop later.

Before the truck arrives, take photos of both vehicles, the plates, the road and any skid marks. Get the other driver’s name, insurance and plate. Your insurer will ask for these.

We tell you where the car is going and how to reach it. If it goes to our lot, we tell you storage rates up front so there are no surprises a week later.

Accident recovery questions

Will my insurance pay for the tow?

Georgia is an at-fault state, so the other driver’s liability insurance often pays if they caused the crash. Your own collision or roadside coverage may also cover it. Call your insurer, and keep our itemized receipt.

Can I choose which tow company takes my car after a crash?

Usually, if police have not already called a rotation tow and the vehicle is not blocking traffic. Ask the officer on scene.
